CARE Principles

Tuesday 5 May 2026, 11:00 (parallel)

The CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance (Collective benefit, Authority to control, Responsibility, Ethics) focus on ethical and culturally responsive stewardship of Indigenous data.

In the session we will discuss how adhering to these principles can differ from traditional approaches to data management, which aspects of the principles can have broader application than research involving indigenous data or knowledge, and practical strategies for integrating CARE principles into research projects.
